Abstract

Objective: To report the experience of monitors at Laboratory of Human Anatomy in the context of meaningful learning by identifying the limitations and potentials. Methods and Results: Report of experience acquired by graduate students of nursing course at FAMEMA, as monitors of Human Anatomy, from May/2010 to May/2011. It was sought to describe the performance of the monitors included in the active methodology; the development of students in relation to the method in the study of anatomy was analyzed, and there was a comparison with the Thought Operation theory developed by Aristotle, in which there are the roots of the Problem-based learning model and the problem-solving method, experienced during training at the Medical School of Marília. Conclusion: The experience in monitoring showed limits and potentials of the active methodology in Anatomy. As a potential, the questioning student develops the ability to learn how to think in an integrated way and by doing this he learns how to reflect the effectiveness of the learning experience in the practice; besides developing autonomy, he learns how to articulate the theoretical and practical knowledge continuously. As a limit, there is the difficulty of the student in the process of multidisciplinary integration when he is in the laboratory of Human Anatomy, with a tendency to view the anatomy as an individual basic science because he is influenced by the traditional methodology that seeks the mnemonic capacity and fragmentation of systems and structures.
